MICHELIN U.S. MOTORCYCLE CHAMPIONSHIP RULES
Qualified Riders
Licensed racers may qualify for the Michelin U.S. Motorcycle Championship in either of two ways: 1.) Sign a national contract with a Michelin racing tire distributor on or before May 31, 2009, or 2.) Qualify through regional series in which Michelin offers contingency awards. Michelin has designated qualifying classes in specific series listed on the official race flyer, through which Michelin riders may qualify for the Championship. Any rider who uses MICHELIN® race tires and is in the top ten overall in these designated qualifying classes as of July 31,2009, will earn an invitation to the Championship.
Payouts
The Michelin U.S. Motorcycle Championship will be conducted under a twin-sprint format, with one race on Saturday and one race on Sunday for each class. Points earned in both races will be aggregated to determine overall placing and purse payouts according to the schedule below. In the event that two or more riders are tied on overall points, final placing will be determined by each rider’s finishing position in race #1 for a given class.
